SparkleClean: $125 for the only page a cleaner needs
Demonstration build · one-page site · Denver, CO · see it live
A demonstration build: we made it ourselves to show what the low end of our range actually buys. Nobody ordered it. The brief and the constraints are real, the client is not, and every number below comes from the same audit script we run before handing any site to a paying customer.
The brief we set ourselves
A two-person cleaning company in Denver. They have no office a customer would ever visit, and their competition is a hundred identical listings with the same stock photo of a smiling woman holding a spray bottle.
The hard part is not design. It is that a stranger has to agree to let two people they have never met into their home while they are at work. Everything on the page either builds that trust or wastes the visitor's attention.
Four decisions that shaped it
- Price on the page, not behind a form. Cleaning is bought by comparison. A visitor who cannot see a number leaves to find one, and does not come back. Ranges by home size sit above the fold.
- Named people, not a logo. The two owners appear with first names and how long they have been doing this. Trust in this trade is personal, and anonymity reads as a call centre.
- The specific over the general. «Insured and bonded» is a claim everyone makes. «We bring our own supplies, we do not use yours» is a sentence a competitor's template does not contain.
- One action, repeated. Request a quote, nothing else. No newsletter, no chat widget, no blog. Every extra choice on a page like this costs bookings.
The numbers
- Audit score
- 100 / 100, after two rounds: 94, then 98, then clean.
- What the first round caught
- The quote form relied on a mailto link, which fails silently on half of phones; and the service-area graphic printed «Denver» twice. Both were invisible to the eye and obvious to the script.
- Page weight
- 40 KB, one file, no external stylesheet or script.
- Time
- Inside one working day, brief to live address.
- What we would charge
- $125 for this scope. Not what was paid — nothing was.
Why this is worth $125 and not $40 a month
A builder subscription at $23–39 a month costs more than this page within the first six months, and keeps costing after. This page is bought once, the files are yours, and it does not go dark when a card expires. The trade-off is honest: a subscription lets you rebuild it yourself at midnight, and this does not.
