Hartwell & Reed: a legal site that shows its assumptions
Demonstration build · website · Boston, MA · see the build
This is a demonstration build, not a client case. We invented the brief to demonstrate the work; Hartwell & Reed is not presented as a real firm, and no consultations, reviews or client outcomes are claimed.
The brief we set ourselves
A small Boston practice needs to make a first legal conversation less confusing without pretending that a webpage can give legal advice. A visitor should recognise the relevant practice area, know which records may matter, understand that scope and fees are discussed before engagement, and request a consultation.
Decisions that shaped the site
- Local context earns space. The copy explains why Massachusetts institutions and records can affect the next step instead of using generic “trusted counsel” language.
- Preparation replaces promises. The page tells a visitor what to bring; it does not promise a legal result or imply that every matter follows the same path.
- Practice areas are doors, not sales cards. Each one frames the kind of decision involved and routes to a measured consultation.
- Reviews remain empty until permission exists. The demonstration does not manufacture social proof for a fictional firm.
The recorded numbers
- Final score in results.json
- 100 / 100
- Attempts field
- 4
- Historical scores stored
- 21, 84, 84, 92
- Recorded page weight

- What the history exposed
- Repeated contrast failures across normal and dark presentation, including headings, lead copy and links.
The record declares a final score of 100 but its saved history stops at 92. This case preserves both facts and does not invent an undocumented clean round.
What we would charge for this scope
The price recorded for this demonstration scope is $275. It is a proposed charge, not client spend.
